Chema Volleyball Club resumed training this week after a well-earned break, with players rested, coaches prepared and lessons from two finals shaping the road ahead.

The legs have had a breather. Now it’s time to put them back to work.
Chema Volleyball Club resumed training this week after a well-earned break, giving players time to rest and recover following a demanding 2025/2026 season. The recovery period is over, and attention now turns to the work ahead.
While the players recharged, the coaching department had its own assignment: reviewing the previous campaign and planning for the coming season. A break from matches certainly does not mean a break from thinking volleyball.
Last season gave Chema plenty to be proud of—and two results to improve on. The club finished second in Kenya Division One after losing to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the final. Chema also reached the Kenya Cup final, where General Service Unit (GSU) took the honours.
Two finals. Two runner-up finishes. Plenty of effort, but the job is still unfinished.
Reaching both finals set a strong benchmark. It also underlined how much the decisive moments matter. The challenge now is to build on what worked, learn from those defeats and prepare to take that next step.
That work begins on the training court. Rebuilding fitness, sharpening execution and strengthening the connections within the squad are all part of turning ambition into performance. There are no trophies for a good training session, but good training sessions help win trophies.
For the players and coaching staff, this is the start of another opportunity to push forward together. Last season’s medals deserve their place in the club’s story. The coming season offers space for a new chapter.
The rest was earned. The return is underway. Time to get to work, Chema.
